MP+® membrane
The MP+® membrane is a technology specially designed to protect trail runners from rain and all weather conditions. The features of the MP+® Membrane are:
- High level of waterproofing
- High level of breathability
- Windproof
- Cold resistance
- Durability
- PFAS-free
Understanding waterproof-breathable membranes

Schmerber Measurement
The Schmerber is the unit of measurement for waterproofness.
1 Schmerber = 1 column of water 1 mm high. A garment with a value of 10,000 Schmerber, that is 10,000 mm, can withstand 10 m of water! A garment is considered fully waterproof from 20,000 Schmerber onwards.

MVP measurement
The MVP measure (Moisture Vapour Permeability) is the unit of measurement for breathability.
This measure calculates the amount of water (in vapor form) that the fabric allows to pass through in 24 hours. The higher the value, the more favourable the breathing.

FAQ - MP+® Membrane
Why choose a jacket with MP+® membrane for trail running?
Why choose a jacket with MP+® membrane for trail running?
The MP+® membrane is designed to meet the specific demands of trail running, where effort is continuous and intensity varies.
It aims to provide a balance between rain protection and sweat evaporation, to limit moisture inside the garment during the run.
Unlike a traditional waterproof jacket, a jacket equipped with the MP+® membrane is designed to be worn during activity, with special attention to breathability and comfort in motion.
What are the benefits of an MP+® membrane in real-world conditions?
What are the benefits of an MP+® membrane in real-world conditions?
In real practice conditions (rain, wind, prolonged effort), the MP+® membrane allows you to:
- limit water penetration during bad weather
- evacuate water vapor linked to sweating
- reduce the feeling of internal dampness during effort
- maintain a stable comfort level despite weather changes
These features make it a suitable solution for dynamic outdoor activities like trail running, where conditions and intensity can change quickly.
Is the MP+® membrane better than other waterproof membranes?
Is the MP+® membrane better than other waterproof membranes?
There is no universally “best” membrane. Performance mainly depends on the operating principle and the balance between waterproofness and breathability.
The MP+® membrane is a so-called hydrophilic (non-microporous) membrane. It has no pores: it blocks liquid water and evacuates sweat through a water vapor transfer driven by differences in humidity and temperature between the inside and outside of the garment.
This operation notably allows:
- continuous waterproofness (without through-pores)
- limited sensitivity to clogging
- breathability depending on effort conditions and the environment
👉 In practice, it is more relevant to compare jackets based on their waterproofness ratings (Schmerber), breathability, and overall design, rather than looking for an absolutely “better” membrane.
How to interpret the performance of an MP+® membrane (Schmerber and MVTR)?
How to interpret the performance of an MP+® membrane (Schmerber and MVTR)?
The performance of an MP+® membrane is expressed with two indicators:
- Schmerber: measures waterproofness, that is, the fabric's resistance to rain
- MVTR: measures breathability, or the ability to wick away sweat
These values help compare products and understand their level of protection and comfort during exercise.
