Stéphanie Gicquel

Explorer, ultra-marathon runner, trail runner, author, speaker

biography

Free, curious, and determined, Stéphanie Gicquel is an explorer, ultra-marathoner, and author. A former business lawyer, she discovered running on her own, driven by a vital need for movement and exploration. A recognized figure in endurance, she has been competing for over ten years on the most demanding terrains, from ultra-endurance formats to extreme environments. Her journey is marked by a rare ability to endure effort, maintain clarity, and keep moving steadily, no matter the conditions.

In 2021, hit by an electric scooter, she was seriously injured, including a complete fracture of the kneecap. After long months of immobilization, healing, rehabilitation, and reconditioning, she achieved five consecutive international-level performances the following season in long-distance and ultra-distance races, an unprecedented streak for a French athlete. A trajectory that illustrates an approach to endurance based on mastery, self-knowledge, and commitment over the long haul.

Landmarks & field tips

Structuring training around duration rather than pace, systematically testing equipment in real conditions, and integrating the mental aspect as a central pillar of performance are, according to Stéphanie, essential elements for sustained success in ultra-endurance.
