MX3 PARTNER OF RAIDLIGHT

Starting a trail, an ultra-trail, or a stage race is a demanding challenge. In these events, nutrition becomes a key factor for success. A specialist in desert races since 1999, Raidlight leverages its expertise by partnering with MX3 Nutrition to design freeze-dried nutrition packs tailored to the needs of endurance athletes.

We chose MX3 Nutrition because we share a core value: Made in France. MX3 is a Vendée-based brand that designs and manufactures its products in France, with a focus on quality and performance.

Our team has multiple participations in the most legendary desert races like the Marathon des Sables®, the Ultra Gobi Race®, and the Oman Desert Marathon®. With this experience, it has a solid understanding of the material and nutritional needs required for this type of adventure.

That’s why Raidlight and MX3 now offer you a complete range of sports nutrition and freeze-dried meals. Developed with experts in nutrition and sports medicine, the MX3 Endurance range (bars, gels, drinks, electrolytes) optimizes your performance before, during, and after effort, while the MX3 Expédition range supports you in all your self-sufficient food expeditions.

FAQ

Why is nourishment essential in trail running?

Trail running is a demanding discipline that engages the body for several hours, sometimes at high altitude, in heat or under extreme conditions. A good nutritional strategy helps maintain your energy level, avoid fatigue, and optimize recovery. Whether racing or training, regularly consuming carbohydrates, salts, and minerals is essential to endure the distance and stay strong until the end.

What is the difference between a gel, a bar, and an energy drink?

Each type has a very specific role during exertion:
- Energy gels are quickly absorbed, perfect for climbing or when energy dips.
- Energy bars, more substantial, help maintain energy supply over time.
- Isotonic drinks ensure effective hydration while replenishing minerals lost through sweat, especially in hot weather or during long efforts.

The ideal is to combine the different types according to your pace, your stomach, and the length of your effort.

How often should one eat during a trail run?

It is generally recommended to take 40 to 60 g of carbohydrates per hour of effort. Depending on the products, this may mean a gel or a bar every 45 minutes, alternating with an energy drink. The key is not to wait until you are hungry or thirsty to eat or drink. Start from the first hour and maintain a steady intake to avoid energy drops. Always test your products during training to avoid unpleasant surprises on the day.
